Mission to Jordan and Lebanon: The Fund reaches out to participants, retirees and HR specialists

24 October 2019

HR/FIN Staff Training Amman

As part of the Fund’s continuing outreach efforts, the Geneva Office completed a mission to Amman, Jordan (8-10 October) and Beirut, Lebanon (11-15 October).

Mr. Alan Blythe, Chief of the Geneva Office of the Fund, accompanied by Mr. Aliamane Bacar Said, Chief of Client Service, Finance and Records Management in the Geneva Office, and Mr. Sovanna Sun, his Deputy, conducted information sessions for participants and pre-retirement seminars for staff who are about to retire or separate from service.

The overall objective was to guide and advise new participants regarding benefit options, and to prepare participants about to retire. The team also made itself available for one-on-one consultations with participants and beneficiaries who could find themselves in complex situations and need guidance regarding available options. In addition, the Fund’s delegation organized training workshops for HR and Finance staff who work on Fund matters.

The team used remote access to the IPAS system to resolve issues related to Member Self-Service and to train participants in using the pension estimate tool.

The sessions were attended by approximately 350 attendees in either the one-on-one or open floor sessions, receiving hands-on information and answers to questions.

Face-to-face meetings remain an important communication channel that the Fund’s client services continue to use in addition to mail and call centers to inform about pension matters. The Fund organizes all year long information sessions in various field offices where the UN and member organizations have staff members who are participants in the Fund.
