The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) proudly closed 2025 with exceptional achievements in delivering timely and efficient support to its clients. Despite unprecedented volumes of work driven by organizational changes such as the UN80 Initiative, the Fund maintained its commitment to excellence, leveraging modernization and technology to enhance processes and client experience.
In 2025, initial separations rose by 53%. Taking recalculations into account, the Fund processed a total of 23,277 new benefits—33% more than the previous record set in 2024, representing an additional 5,745 benefits.
Despite this surge in work volume, efficiency remained a hallmark of UNJSPF operations:
In the words of Rosemarie McClean, UNJSPF Chief Executive: “Behind these numbers lies a clear priority: delivering excellent service to our clients. The Fund’s ability to sustain high performance during a period of significant organizational change is a credit to our team and demonstrates our commitment to meeting the changing needs of participants and beneficiaries worldwide.”
The success of 2025 was powered by strategic modernization initiatives and by harnessing advanced technology and streamlining processes.
Among these achievements was the successful implementation of UNJSPF Connect, the Fund’s customer relationship management system, which was launched in November 2024. This new system enhanced efficiency in responding to client inquiries and provided clients with a more transparent process. In 2025, UNJSPF Connect received 17,023 survey responses from processed cases, with 91% positive ratings.
Another example is the global rollout of the automated Separation Notification Interface (PF.4), implemented in phases across the UN system - UN Headquarters (September 2024), all Umoja Payroll Centers (October 2024), UNICEF (June 2025), and IMO (September 2025). The new interface replaced the manual PF.4 form, which was prone to delays, inconsistent data, and communication bottlenecks, with a fully automated solution that enables authorized payroll personnel to transmit pension contribution data securely and in real time to UNJSPF, with immediate system-to-system confirmation. The new interface delivers faster end-to-end processing, enhanced data integrity, full traceability of contribution details, and improved operational accountability, while significantly simplifying the separation experience for staff.
Additionally, more beneficiaries are submitting their annual verification proof via the digital certificate of entitlement (DCE) - the state-of-the-art digital identify solution developed by the Fund - which was used by over 44,000 clients or close to 60% of the eligible population in 2025. On average, new retirees are joining the DCE at the rate of 86%. The timely submission of the certificate of entitlement, either in its digital or paper form, is a key element to avoid the suspension of UNJSPF benefits.
These outcomes are reinforced by the results of the recent client survey, which recorded an overall satisfaction score of 4 out of 5 across all client groups. Building on this strong foundation, the Fund remains committed to delivering exceptional service to clients by driving innovation and investing in its workforce as its most precious asset.
