The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) leadership and staff actively contributed to the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, through a series of engagements focused on responsible investment, digital innovation and partnerships.
The Fund’s Office of Investment Management (OIM) hosted an event for members of the UN-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance, enabling signatories to discuss sustainable investment and climate action. A member since 2020, the Fund has committed to transitioning its portfolio to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
OIM leadership also joined a panel at the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Summit 2026 on how the private sector and asset owners can accelerate climate action and support a just transition.
The Fund and the International Computing Centre co-hosted a side event on quantum preparedness. Representatives of Member States, technology providers, regulators and other UN entities discussed practical readiness for risks that quantum computing poses to existing encryption systems. The Fund’s Digital Certificate of Entitlement (DCE) illustrated this work, which aims at protecting client data through the exploration of post-quantum cryptography and public anchoring of ledger records to strengthen long-term resilience.
At the Global Blockchain Business Council’s 9th Annual Blockchain Central UNGA, Pension Administration leadership addressed digital identity, financial inclusion, blockchain and artificial intelligence. This was an opportunity to showcase the DCE and its capabilities, as a state-of-the-art solution to enable beneficiaries to complete the annual proof-of-life exercise remotely.
UNJSPF staff also volunteered with the United Nations Office for Partnerships, supporting the Goals Lounge and initiatives spanning climate action, digital innovation, global health, youth leadership and gender equality.
Together, these initiatives reflect the Fund’s integral role in the wider United Nations community as we continue serving those who serve the world.
