New York, 25 September 2025. The Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) hosted its flagship event, Blockchain Central UNGA 2025, at the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) headquarters in New York City. The gathering brought together global leaders, innovators, and policymakers to explore the transformative potential of blockchain and emerging technologies in building a more inclusive, secure, and sustainable future.
Held in parallel with the United Nations General Assembly, the event featured a full day of panels, tech talks, and fireside chats, spotlighting the intersection of digital identity, financial infrastructure, regulation, sustainability, and humanitarian impact.
The day opened with welcome remarks from Rosemarie McClean, UNJSPF Chief Executive, and Dino Dell’Accio, UNJSPF Chief Information Officer, alongside Sandra Ro, CEO of GBBC, setting the tone for a dynamic and collaborative exchange of ideas.
Key panels and discussions touched upon the need for advancing digital identity systems while preserving privacy; capital markets and risk mitigation, highlighting frameworks to manage risk in evolving capital markets. A fireside chat with Adrienne A. Harris, Superintendent of the New York Department of Financial Services, reflected on regulation and innovation, emphasizing the importance of trust and transparency in digital finance.
The panel on digital money and payment infrastructure highlighted efforts to build inclusive payment systems, while former Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Commissioner Kristin N. Johnson and others shared insights on harmonizing regulatory approaches across jurisdictions.
Short, impactful tech talks covered topics such as quantum readiness, preparing for the next frontier in computing, delivered by Dino Dell’Accio; global supply chains, focused on leveraging blockchain for transparency and efficiency; and digital public infrastructure, reflecting on building foundational systems for equitable access.
Other panels discussed how tokenization of financial services can drive positive change, corporate sustainability, and climate accountability and blockchain for humanity.
David Treat, CIO & CTO of Pearson Education and GBBC Board Director, delivered closing remarks. During the event, GBBC’s leadership delivered Public Service Appreciation Awards, celebrating those driving public good through innovation.
