UNJSPF Global Townhall: watch the video

5 April 2024

New York, 4 April 2024. The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) held a global town hall. More than 2,000 participants from UNJSPF member organizations, retirees and beneficiaries joined the virtual event to hear from Rosemarie McClean, Chief Executive of Pension Administration, and Pedro Guazo, Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of UNJSPF assets.

Ms. McClean highlighted the Fund’s modernizing efforts of the past years, including timely pension processing, enhanced communications, and continued modernization efforts. Confronted by an unstable economic and high-inflation environment, “the Fund is well-funded, and the purchasing power of pensions is protected with cost-of-living adjustments”, Ms. McClean stated.

Mr. Guazo indicated that over 2023, the value of the Fund’s assets significantly recovered with a preliminary annual increase in the market value of assets by 10.4 per cent from 2022. Consequently, the preliminary value of the portfolio reached US$ 88.2 billion as at 31 December 2023. As at March 29, the value of the assets was at 91 billion so we are seeing a steady increase in our assets. “The Fund is effective, efficient, transparent and a leader in sustainable investment”, Mr. Guazo underscored.
