New York, 26 September 2025. The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund is proud to have contributed to a series of initiatives dedicated to innovation, digital transformation and responsible investment during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High-Level Week.
On 17 September, in the context of Innovation Day, Chief Information Officer Dino Dell’Accio and Programme Management Officer Abdoul-Wali Mahdi participated in the From Spark to System - The UN Digital ID Journey panel. They highlighted the UN Digital ID initiative as a spin-off from the UNJSPF digital identity solution, and presented the pension use case of this innovative application for UN staff.
On 22 September, Mr. Dell’Accio spoke about the UNJSPF modernization journey at the United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (UN-ODET) and UNIDO "AI as a Game Changer" and Amazon Web Service Innovating for Impact events. The following day he also spoke at the UN-ODET Anchor Event.
The Fund played an active role in the World Summit of the Information Society (WSIS)’s event, WSIS+20: Shaping the Future Beyond 2025, on 16 September, and Digital@UNGA, on 23 September. The events aimed at elevating the role of digital as a force for good, guided by the Global Digital Compact and the WSIS outcomes, and further highlighted the UNJSPF’s modernization efforts, including its digital identity solution.
On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Climate Week NY also took place. On 23 September, Guillaume Compeyron, Head of Responsible Investment at UNJSPF, participated in a conversation at the Sustainable Investment Forum America to highlight the responsible investment initiatives of the Fund.
The UNJSPF hosted the GBBC's Blockchain Central UNGA 2025 for the second consecutive year on 25-26 September, featuring global thought leaders and changemakers from across blockchain, government, technology and industry, who explored how blockchain-powered solutions can accelerate progress toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UNJSPF’s groundbreaking Digital Certificate of Entitlement was featured as a practical and ethical implementation of blockchain technology. The recording of the event is available here.
Throughout the week, many UNJSPF staff also volunteered at the SDG lounge, the UN Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit in support of over 3,000 journalists, and the Protocol and Liaison Service in support of more than 190 delegations in attendance of the High-Level Week.
