Cost-of-living Adjustment Letters solely in Member Self-Service (MSS) for Registered Retirees and Beneficiaries

23 March 2021

Effective April 2021, the Fund will no longer mail hard copy cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) letters to beneficiaries who have registered for Member Self-Service (MSS). COLA letters are usually mailed on a quarterly basis to UNJSPF beneficiaries and retirees whose benefit amounts are updated by a COLA or by a change in the quarterly exchange rate.  Beneficiaries who have registered for MSS are to view and download their COLA letters inside their MSS account under the “DOCUMENTS” tab.

Making COLA letters available in MSS will allow beneficiaries and retirees to get faster and more secure access to their information, eliminating the risks associated with unreliable postal services, especially during these times of COVID. It is also beneficial for the environment, preventing printing and dispatching across the world around 50,000 letters every year. In addition, providing the electronic COLA letter in MSS will reduce the risk of misplacement or non-delivery of confidential financial information.

COLA Letters will be published in MSS approximately the third week of each quarter i.e. January, April, July, and October. The Fund will send a notification to beneficiaries at the email address registered for MSS to alert them once the document is available. Beneficiaries will then be able to view, download and print their COLA letters under the MSS “DOCUMENTS” tab.  Beneficiaries can register for or log in to their MSS account here.

The electronic COLA Letter and notification is only applicable to beneficiaries registered for MSS.  Beneficiaries who have not registered for an MSS account will continue to receive a hard copy COLA Letter without any change.
