MESSAGE FROM THE ACTING CEO OF THE FUND

12 March 2019

Together with all my colleagues in the Fund, I was very saddened to hear about yesterday's (March 10th, 2019) tragic plane crash in Ethiopia claiming the lives of all on board, including our UN colleagues from multiple organizations across the UN system.

The Secretariat of the Fund has established a dedicated response team for coordinating and strengthening the care and any support the Fund is able to offer to families affected by this dreadful event.

The Fund’s Geneva Office is the focal point and will take responsibility for all related cases regardless of where they would normally be allocated. The Focal Point contact information will be shared directly with counterparts in all UNJSPF member organizations concerned.

The Fund can also be contacted at the priority email address provided on its website on the URGENT ASSISTANCE page which can be accessed in the six official UN languages. All emails reaching the dedicated mailbox for queries relating to the passing of a UNJSPF member in this tragic event are handled as an absolute priority by the Fund.

On behalf of all UNJSPF personnel, I extend my deepest sympathies to the families of the victims during this period of mourning.

Sincerely,
Janice Dunn Lee, Acting CEO
