UNJSPF Chief Executive of Pension Administration congratulates World Food Programme for its Nobel Prize

9 October 2020

Today, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts to combat hunger and improve conditions for peace.

“I warmly congratulate WFP, its past and present staff and retirees who have contributed to combat food insecurity worldwide, leading to this well-deserved recognition,” said Ms. Rosemarie McClean, Chief Executive of Pension Administration. “The Fund is proud to support the WFP and its staff through its pension plan,” Ms. McClean added.

WFP staff participated in the UN Joint Staff Pension Fund since WFP’s establishment in 1961. WFP shares with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) the same Staff Pension Committee. Together, their participants make the second largest and one of the fastest growing UNJSPF participant group.

Currently, more than 8,600 WFP staff are contributing to UNJSPF, and many ex-WFP staff and their family are among the more than 70,000 retirees and beneficiaries receiving monthly payments from UNJSPF.
